About this project

Every day, hotels, caterers and wedding halls throw away good cooked food while shelters nearby run short. Surplus food donation Android project ShareBite closes that gap. A donor posts the extra food in under a minute; the app works out a safe-to-eat time, alerts verified NGOs within their pickup radius, and tracks the food until it reaches people.

How it works

  • The donor posts food with photo, servings, veg / non-veg, cooked time and pickup window
  • A freshness check (Gemini AI, with a built-in food-safety table when offline) sets the "safe till" time
  • Verified NGOs within their radius get an in-app alert, each with a match score
  • The NGO claims the food and assigns a volunteer; the donor sees who is coming
  • The volunteer enters the donor's 4-digit OTP at pickup
  • On delivery the NGO adds a photo, place and number of people served
  • Donors earn points and badges, see impact charts and download a PDF certificate
