StayMate - PG & Hostel Finder Portal |

StayMate is a PG and hostel finder PHP project built with PHP 8, MySQL and Bootstrap 5. Students and freshers moving to a new city can search verified PGs by city, area or college, budget, sharing, food and amenities, and see which beds are free in every room before they travel. PG owners list their PGs, rooms and beds, and the admin verifies every listing before it goes live.

The highlight is safe bed booking: the tenant picks one exact bed, the bed is locked so two people can never book it together, held for 15 minutes for the token payment (Razorpay test mode or demo mode), and confirmed by the owner with a booking slip that has a QR code.

How it works

• Owner registers, the admin approves, and the owner adds a PG with photo, food, amenities, rules, rooms and beds
• Admin verifies the PG (approve, or reject with a note)
• Tenant searches with filters, shortlists and compares up to 3 PGs, and requests a visit slot
• Owner accepts the visit; the tenant picks a free bed and pays a 25% token with a printable receipt
• Owner confirms the booking (booking slip with QR) and later marks the tenant moved in and moved out
• Unpaid holds (15 minutes) and unanswered bookings (48 hours) are released automatically; cancelled or rejected tokens are refunded through the admin
• Only tenants who moved in can rate and review a PG

Frequently asked questions

Does it run without internet? Yes. Demo payment mode works offline on XAMPP; only Razorpay test payments and the map need internet.

Is the payment real? No. Razorpay is used in test mode, so no real money is charged.

Can I change colours and the site name? Yes. The site name is changed in Admin Settings, and the colours are CSS variables in one file.
