About this project

NoteNest is a notes and question paper portal PHP project for colleges. Notes, previous year question papers, solved papers, syllabus and lab manuals are arranged by course, semester and subject. Students and faculty upload PDFs, the faculty of each subject checks every student upload before it goes live, and every download is counted so the most useful files rise to the top.

How it works

  • A student registers, picks the Student card on the login page and opens the library of his course and semester.
  • He uploads a PDF with subject, type, unit and (for papers) exam year and session; fake PDFs, oversized files and duplicate papers are refused.
  • The upload waits in the review queue of the subject faculty, who previews the PDF, ticks a 3-point checklist and approves it or rejects it with a reason.
  • The student sees the status on a timeline and can send a corrected PDF if it was rejected.
  • Approved files can be searched, filtered, previewed, downloaded, saved and rated.
  • Downloads are counted once per student per file per day, and the Top Downloads page ranks files for the week, the month and all time.
  • Missing papers can be requested; the faculty fulfils the request by linking an approved file.

Does it need internet? No. Bootstrap, icons, font and Chart.js are included; it runs on XAMPP offline. Is there a payment gateway? No. The library is free for students, so no payment is needed. Can a student upload any file? Only real PDF files within the size limit; duplicate papers are blocked and the faculty approves every upload. Can I change the college name and upload limit? Yes, from Admin > Settings.
