About the project
Setting a good exam paper takes hours: the questions must cover the syllabus, match the marks pattern and test different thinking levels. This question paper generator Android project does that work for the teacher. The teacher chooses a subject, the units to cover, a marks pattern and the share of Remember, Understand, Apply and Analyse questions. The app then builds a complete paper with an answer key, and the HOD reviews it before it is used.
The AI part runs inside the Android app. It calls the Gemini API with a prompt made from the selected units and their topics. If there is no internet or no API key, an offline generator fills the paper from the question bank and unit topics, so the app never stops working during a demo.
How it works
- The teacher logs in and opens Generate paper.
- Subject, units, marks pattern (Unit Test 20, Mid Term 30, End Sem 70, Quiz 10) and difficulty are selected.
- Bloom's taxonomy sliders set how many questions come from each thinking level.
- Gemini AI returns questions with answers; the offline generator is used when AI is not available.
- The teacher edits or replaces any question, then saves the paper, exports a PDF or saves the questions to the question bank.
- The paper is sent to the HOD, who approves it or rejects it with remarks. The teacher gets a notification.
- The admin manages users, subjects, patterns, the question bank, AI settings and reports from a web panel.
Users
- Teacher: registers, builds subjects and units, creates papers, manages the question bank, exports PDFs and sends papers for approval.
- HOD: sees papers waiting in the department, reviews each question with its Bloom's level, approves or rejects with remarks, and views the teacher list.
- Admin (web panel): manages teachers, HODs, departments, subjects, marks patterns, questions, papers and the Gemini API key.
Highlights
- 3 roles, 16 activities and 7 fragments in the Android app (23 screens), with bottom navigation for teacher and HOD.
- 28 PHP APIs, 11 admin web pages and 11 MySQL tables.
- Validation on every form, in the app and again on the server: email format, 10-digit mobile starting 6-9, password length and match, duplicate checks, marks and total-marks rules.
- Passwords stored as hashes, prepared statements for every query, friendly error messages.
- Sample data included: 48 questions across subjects and Bloom's levels, 6 papers in different statuses, demo teacher, HOD and admin logins.
- Designed for three college demos: login and masters, then the paper workflow, then AI, PDF, reports and final testing.
What you get
- Complete Android Studio project (Java, Volley) and the PHP admin panel and APIs.
- MySQL database file with sample data.

- Setup guide with every step and the common errors, plus a README.
Who can use this project
This is a ready final year project for BE / B.Tech (Computer Science, IT), MCA, BCA and Diploma students. It suits an Android project with source code, an exam paper generator app, an education technology project, or a Bloom's taxonomy based AI project, and it comes with documentation for submission.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work without internet or a Gemini key? Yes. The offline generator builds the paper from the question bank and unit topics. The Gemini key is optional and is set in the admin panel.
Which database does it use? MySQL through XAMPP and phpMyAdmin. Import one SQL file and the demo data is ready.
Can I change the marks pattern or add my own? Yes. Patterns have sections with question count, attempt count and marks each, and the total is checked before saving.
Is the report included? Yes. A 67-page report in Word, a 2-page abstract and a viva question set are included.
