AI-based Symptom Checker and Doctor Recommendation

About the project

Most patients do not know how serious a symptom is or which specialist to visit. This AI symptom checker Android project (app name: VaidyaMitra) solves both problems in one app. The patient types the problem in their own words, the AI asks 3-4 follow-up questions and then shows an urgency level, possible conditions with percentage and one recommended specialist. The result opens the list of approved doctors of that specialization, and the patient books a free time slot. The doctor sees the AI pre-visit summary before the consultation.

How it works

• Patient writes symptoms in English, Hindi or Hinglish (or taps quick symptom chips)
• Gemini AI asks 3-4 follow-up questions shown as answer chips (duration, severity, danger signs)
• AI returns possible conditions with %, urgency (Emergency / Urgent / Routine / Self-care) and one specialist
• Safety rule: any danger sign always becomes Emergency with a "Call 108" button
• No API key or no internet? An offline symptom master (keywords + red flags) gives the result
• Patient books a free slot from the doctor's weekly schedule; the AI summary is attached
• Doctor confirms, consults, writes the prescription; patient downloads it as PDF and rates the doctor

• Can it run without internet in the college lab? Yes. The server runs on XAMPP on your laptop and the offline symptom checker works without internet.
