About the project
A landlord keeps the security deposit, a shop refuses to replace a faulty phone, money disappears in a UPI fraud, or the police station will not write an FIR - most people simply do not know what the law says or what to do next. This AI legal awareness Android project gives every citizen a first point of help on their phone: simple answers with the right law and helpline, ready-to-send letters and a direct path to free legal aid or a verified lawyer. It is a much more practical and safer version of a plain legal advice chatbot app project, because a lawyer can check and correct the AI's answers.
How it works
- The citizen types a question in English or Hindi and can pick a category (Consumer, Property, Women, Cyber, Police, Labour, Family, RTI).
- Gemini AI replies with 3-6 easy steps, the law name and a helpline; every answer shows a disclaimer and whether it came from Gemini AI or the offline list.
- No Gemini key or no internet? An offline matcher answers from admin-verified answers (95% correct on a 40-question test set, including Hindi).
- Not satisfied? One tap sends the question to verified lawyers, who write an expert answer and the citizen gets a notification.
- The RTI application generator and complaint letter templates fill the citizen's details, can rewrite the facts formally with AI and create a PDF to share or download.
- The legal aid map (OpenStreetMap, no key needed) lists DLSA offices and legal aid clinics sorted by distance, with call and directions.
- Citizens request a consultation; the lawyer accepts or rejects, sends advice, completes it and the citizen rates the lawyer.

Final year and pre-final year students of BE / B.Tech, MCA, BCA and Diploma (Computer Engineering, CSE, IT) looking for a Gemini AI Android project with source code and documentation. It is also a good choice for students who want a social-impact project, an RTI application generator app or an NLP based chatbot with real-world use.
Frequently asked questions
Does the app work without a Gemini API key? Yes. Questions are answered from the offline answer list managed by the admin. A free Gemini key from Google AI Studio enables full AI answers in Hindi and English.
Is the AI answer legal advice? No. The app gives general legal awareness with a disclaimer on every answer, and the citizen can send any answer to a verified lawyer for an expert reply.
Can I add more laws, answers or legal aid centres? Yes. Rights articles, offline answers with keywords, letter templates and centres with map location are all managed from the admin panel, no code change needed.
How does the map work without a Google Maps key? The app uses osmdroid with free OpenStreetMap tiles, so no API key or billing account is required.
